Jimmy S. Martinez

Jimmy S. Martinez, 51 of Amarillo died Saturday September 17 in Amarillo. Rosary will be said at 7:00 PM Wednesday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Deacon Hector Gallegos officiating. Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Msgr. Rex Nicholl officiating. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 South Osage St. Mr. Martinez was born and raised in Amarillo. He owned and operated J&M Tops and Trim and J&M Autos for more than 20 years. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Hispanic PGA of Amarillo. He enjoyed showing his 1968 Chevelle SS in the Make A Wish Car Shows and was a member of the Corvette Club. Mr. Martinez was a volunteer Santa for the Texas Panhandle Community Services and was a regular contributor to many law enforcement charities. He married Salina Jimenez in 1974 at Amarillo. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and attended Our Lady of Guadalupe. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michelle Martinez. Survivors include his wife of the home, 1 daughter; Maria Martinez of Bakersfield, CA., 1 son; Mario Martinez of Amarillo, his mother; Mary Martinez of Amarillo, 4 sisters; Annie Herrera of Amarillo, Elia Garcia of Clinton, OK., Barbara Paladino of Chicago, IL and Kristina Ouwenga of New York, 6 brothers; Leroy Martinez of Highland, CA., Michael Martinez, Jr. of Houston, Greg Martinez of Amarillo, and Richard Martinez, Johnny Martinez and Sammy Martinez all of Los Angeles, CA., 8 grandchildren; Clarissa, Clarinda, Mario Jr., Gabriel, Michael, Frank, Freedom and Justice and 1 great granddaughter, Alizane.
