Jimmy Yara

Rosary will be recited at 6:00pm Monday, May 10 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, May 11 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 1507 N. Adams, with Father Rex Nicholl as celebrant. Graveside services will be at 3:00 pm Tuesday at Blue Mound Cemetery, in Oklahoma, with a reception following in Perryton. Jimmy was born July 25, 1945 to Albert and Estefanita Yara in Trujillo, NM. His career spanned over 40 years as a driller and tool pusher in the oil field, beginning with Baker and Taylor Drilling in the late 1960's, and ending in 2009 with Unit Drilling. His work enabled him to travel throughout the US and abroad. He was respected as an excellent manager, who took care of his men and his rigs. Jimmy always put others first and was a friend to all. He was renowned as a man who would get the job done, whatever the challenge. Jimmy loved his family, friends, and pets. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. After retirement, He could be found making and rebuilding projects in his garage. He always found time to visit friends and neighbors. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all whose lives he touched. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a son Jimmy and wife Heather; daughters, Angie, Carolyn, and Marilyn; grandchildren, Beau, Tess, and Ashleigh, all of Amarillo; 4 brothers, Jake Yara and wife Jeanette, Johnny Yara and wife Priscilla, George Yara and wife Cheryl, and Gene Gallegos and wife Julia; 4 sisters, Stella Montoya and husband Raymond, Agnes Lujan and husband Orlando, Alice Madrid and husband Marcelino, and Teresa Pacheco and husband Daniel; special cousins, Tranquilino Yara, and Loyd Gallegos; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family requests that memorials be made to Odyssey Healthcare.
