JoAnn Harmon Henderson

JoAnn Harmon Henderson of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on August 26, 2026.

Services honoring the lives of Charles Edward “Ed” Henderson and JoAnn Harmon Henderson will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in Rector Pioneer Chapel, 2800 S. Osage. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, Amarillo.

JoAnn was born on February 24, 1932, in Amherst, Texas, to Lavelle (Abernathy) Harmon and Samuel Newton Harmon. She graduated from Amherst High School.

On July 16, 1953, JoAnn married Charles Edward “Ed” Henderson. During their marriage, Ed served in the United States Army for two years. While he was stationed in Germany, JoAnn and their daughter, Davon, joined him there. After returning to the United States, the family made their home in both Texas and New Mexico. Together, JoAnn and Ed raised two daughters, Davon and Diane. They were married for 72 years.

Above all else, JoAnn treasured time spent with her family. She was a devoted supporter of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and could often be found cheering them on at their sporting events. She enjoyed quilting and was an active member of a quilting club. JoAnn also loved sewing and cooking. An animal lover, she cherished her cats and dogs and considered them part of the family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lavelle Harmon and Samuel Newton Harmon; her stepmother, Audrey Harmon; her brother, Kim Harmon; and her son-in-law, Jerry Crawford.

JoAnn is survived by her daughters, Davon Crawford and Diane Hansford and husband Don; her grandchildren, Ryan Crawford and wife Devona, Aaron Crawford, Kevin Hansford and wife Anne, Wade Hansford and wife April, and Jill Hansford; her great-grandchildren, Ella, Maverick, Kaydance, Zach, Mathew, Cason, and Collin; and her sister, Yvonne Maxfield.
