Joaquin Lomas Puentes

Joaquin Lomas Puentes 87, of Amarillo died Saturday May 1, 2010 in Amarillo. Services will beat 10:00 AM Wednesday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Juan Pablo Carrasco, pastor of East Amarillo Church of Christ officiating. Private burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Puentes was born in Zacatecas Mexico on October 4, 1922. He moved to Amarillo in 1960 from Hereford. He worked in the maintenance department at Randall High School for many years. He retired in 2004. Mr. Puentes was a great father. He always had a smile on his face. He loved life. He enjoyed staying busy and playing Bingo. He married Rita Perales on October 19, 1937. They were married 64 years. She preceded him in death on July 23, 2002. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Juanita Almanza on July 22, 2009. He is survived by his 2 daughters, Norma Weatherholt and her husband Dennis and Irma P. Clark all of Amarillo; 2 sons, Manuel Puentes and his wife Yolanda and Joaquin ""Kenny"" Puentes both of Amarillo; 1 sister, Isabella Ramirez of Dallas; 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
