Joe T. Lyons

Joe T. Lyons, 79 of Amarillo died Tuesday August 26, 2008 in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM Friday at West Park Cemetery in Hereford with Rev. Joan Gaines, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Hereford officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Lyons was born in Oklahoma City. He moved to Deaf Smith County at the age of 3. He farmed near Adrian for many years. He moved to Amarillo in 1979. Mr. Lyons served in the Army during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant. He married Barbara Phillips on May 20, 1972 at Hereford. Mr. Lyons attended the First Presbyterian Church of Hereford and Anna Street Church of Christ in Amarillo. Survivors include his wife, 1 daughter, Virginia, ""Ginger"" Reed of Lubbock; 2 sons, James Steven Lyons of Amarillo and Frank Thomas Lyons of Pompano Beach, FL; and 5 grandchildren. The family requests memorial donations to the American Heart Association.
