Joe Doyle Welch 82 of Amarillo died Tuesday February 12, 2008 at Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM Monday at Chaparral Hills Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Burkhalter pastor, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas. Mr. Welch was born in Childress to John Verlin and Gladys Nettie (Kincaid) Welch. He lived in Amarillo most of his life. Joe graduated from Amarillo High School in 1943. After graduation, he joined the joined the Navy where he served on the USS Pasadena during the bombardment of Iwo Jima. Joe was a loving family man and loved pets. He enjoyed fishing and working in the yard. Joe retired from Markle Manufacturing after 35 years of services as a welder. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He married Imogene Williams on August 13, 1945 at Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 son Robert Verlin ""Bob"" Welch, and his in-laws Robert Price and Verna Mae Epps Williams. Survivors include: his wife; 1 son, Roy Eugene Welch, 1 brother, John Verlin Welch, Jr., and his wife Juanita, 5 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and 2 nieces. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Olivia's Angels in care of BSA Hospice.
