John Anthony "Tony" Baptiste

John Anthony “Tony” Baptiste, 89, of Amarillo passed away Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026.

Services will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St.

Tony served in the Air Force for four years and was employed with Potter County Sheriff’s Department as a sergeant and a member of the multi-county drug task force for many years.

He was a former member of Coors Ranch Rodeo and Range Riders. He married Marsha on Jan. 24, 1981.

Tony was the father of four children, and a loving dog father. He was affectionately known as “Groddy” to his five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Tony leaves behind his loving wife, Marsha; and two sisters, Phyllis Geraghty and Janet Cregin.
