John JD Campbell 92 of Amarillo died Thursday, August 8, 2013 at his home. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday in Llano East Cemetery, Field of Valor with Bob Miller, pastor of Crossroads Country Church officiating. Military Honors will be rendered by the VFW Post 430 of Canyon. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas. JD was born in Roy, NM. He served in the Navy during WWII. He owned P&C Office Machines. He loved working on typewriters and small office machines. He was a member of South Georgia Baptist Church. He served as a volunteer at the Optimist Club. He was an avid gardener and loved spending time fishing when he had the time. He married Jean Spence on October 14, 1997 in Claude. He is survived by his wife, 1 son, David Campbell of Amarillo; 1 daughter, Mary Pat Ratcliff-Harkins of Amarillo; 2 step-sons, Larry Elmore of Cleveland, OH and Thomas Jackson of Amarillo; 2 step-daughters, Janis Schuster of Albuquerque, NM and Danette Welch of Amarillo; 4 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Wounded Warriors Project.
