John Patrick “Pat” Oberbrockling, age 92 years old, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at BSA Hospital.
Pat was born in Watertown, South Dakota, grew up in Currie, Minnesota, and moved to Amarillo in the 1950’s. He was the son of the late Bernard “Ben” and Irene (Cullen) Oberbrockling. Pat served in The United States Army during the Korean War and was a welder for Del Tex Steel Buildings and retired in 1994 after 30 years. He enjoyed baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves and watching old Westerns and Jeopardy.
In addition to his parents, Pat was preceded in death by his wife, Joann; daughter, Debbie Wiegand; son-in-law, Wayne Steen; brothers and sisters and their spouses: Gertrude (Tom) Faulds, Bernie (Phyllis) Oberbrockling, Eddie Oberbrockling, Evelyn (Fred) Smith; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bob Byers, Doug Bell, and Steve Illg. He is survived by his son, John Oberbrockling, Jr.; daughters: Susan Steen of Amarillo, Michelle (Denny) Bridges of Port Aransas, Texas, and Jill Oberbrockling of Austin, Texas; grandchildren: Halee (Breanna) Putnam, Stephanie Oberbrockling (Cristian Ibarra), Richard (Toni) Steen, Michael (Sheri) Steen, Brittani (Cole) Campbell, Mallory Bridges, Cobe Howard, Caylie Howard, Casey Howard, Ashlea (Patrick) Smith, and Monica (John) Russell; many loving great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother and sisters: Jim (Janice) Oberbrockling, Betty Byers, Pearl (Eddie) Morin, Carol Bell, Roxanne (Keith) Dumos, Toni (Illg) Galvin; and son-in-law, Bill Wiegand.
A graveside service will be 1:00 PM, Saturday March 15 at Llano Cemetery.
