John W. Osborne

John W. Osborne, 89, died Saturday, March 30, 2013 in Amarillo Private graveside services were held in Amistad, NM on April 2, 2013. Arrangements were by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Osborne was born on May 14, 1923 to James and Lola Osborne. He grew up in Amistad, N.M. He served his country in the Army during World War II. After being honorably discharged, he moved to Dumas where he worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. After 24 years, he retired and moved to Amarillo. Mr. Osborne then worked another 10 years at ASARCO before retiring again. He loved being Papa John and spending time with his family, and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grand children. He is preceded in death, by a son Johnny Osborne in 1973 and a daughter Judy Osborne in 2001. He is survived by his daughter Mattie Cogdill and husband Ronnie, a son Jerry Osborne and wife Kathy all of Amarillo. His five grandchildren; Ronnie D. Cogdill, Angie Weggesser, Mistie Walser, Whitney Maldonado, and Carly Osborne, and 8 great grand children. The family would like to thank everyone at Odyssey Hospice for all their care and support.
