John Frank Ragsdale, 63, of Amarillo, died Tuesday Dec. 10, 2002 in Colorado Springs, CO. Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday at Rector Funeral Home Chapel, with Gary L. Hall officiating. Interment was at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas Mr. Ragsdale was born on November 4, 1939 in Dunkin County, Missouri. He proudly served his country in the Marine Corps from 1956-1966, serving three tours in Vietnam, where he received numerous combat medals including the purple heart and the Navy Cross for heroism. He moved to Amarillo in 1978 and worked for Iowa Beef for 4 years. He then found his calling in life as a long haul truck driver. He was a member of the American Legion Post 379 in Bedford, TX. He was preceded in death by his mother, Beulah Rouse Ragsdale and his father, Wayne Edward Ragsdale in St. Louis, MO, 3 brothers, Jessie Ragsdale, Bobby Ragsdale, and Ray Ragsdale, 2 sisters, Bettye Counts and June Parker. Survivors include: 1 daughter, Kellie Gates of Silverdale, WA; 1 son, Scott Wayne Ragsdale and his wife Debbie Silverdale, WA; 1 granddaughter, Kathryn Gates; 1 grandson, Ethan Ragsdale; 2 sisters, Lealva May of Hastings, Nebraska, and Mary Hall of Euless, Texas; his fianc, Lynn Lucas; many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
