John Curtis Rogers

John Curtis Rogers, 82, of Amarillo, died on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Private burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage.

John was born on February 17, 1944, in Shattuck, Oklahoma, to John Confare Rogers and Velma Rogers. He grew up in Oklahoma and moved to Phillips, Texas. He graduated from Phillip High School in 1962, where he starred on the football team. He earned a football scholarship to Texas Tech University.

He served over 13 years in the U.S. Air Force having served during Vietnam. He had worked as a mechanic most of his life.

He was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Patrick Rogers; and his parents, John Confare Rogers and Velma Brooks Rogers.

He is survived by a son, Michael Rogers of Amarillo; and a sister, Kristy Huff.
