John Wesley Tosh Jr, 79, of Amarillo died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016. John was born June 15th, 1937 in Clovis, NM to John and Alice Tosh. He was raised in Clovis and graduated in 1955. He served in the National Guard and then hired on for Santa Fe Railroad and retired after 42 years. He married Elaine Meyer on April 12th 1958 and they moved to Amarillo in 1959. He loved his time with his family, friends and his kind and generous neighbors. John was an active member of The Golden Spread Woodcarvers and Panhandle Bluegrass & Old Time Music Association. He had a passion for woodcarving and playing music. He was proceeded in death by his parents; Wes Tosh Sr. and Alice and his sister; Charlene Fitz and husband Rex. He is survived by his wife Elaine of 58 years of marriage; a brother, Bud and his wife Dinnie of Clovis; two sons, Neal and his wife Jamie of Amarillo and Kyle of Borger, 7 grandchildren, Wade, Kelbi, Kody and Jeff of Amarillo, Ryan and Jaelyn of Dallas, Austin of Borger and one great grandson Ben of Amarillo. Visitation will be at Rector Funeral Home 6-7 pm Monday Dec. 12, 2016 Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 13th, at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Tom Malone Officiating. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery East Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made in his name to Meals on Wheels.
