John Vincens

October 9, 1955 — November 4, 2020

Edward "John" Vincens Jr., 65, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on November 4th, 2020. He passed away while in hospice due to a medical condition. Memorial Graveside services will be at 11am Monday at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Mark Gauldin minister of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. John graduated from Broadmoor High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and attended college at Tarrant County Junior College in Fort Worth. He went on to become a merchandiser and receiver for Montgomery Ward. In his later years, he worked in maintenance for River Road ISD at River Road High School. In his spare time, he loved traveling to the mountains, spending time with his family, searching for the best catfish or Mexican food in town, and watching classic comedies like The Three Stooges. John loved discussing his favorite topics: history, theology, classic movies, and Steinbeck novels. He was fond of music from the 70s, such as bands like The Carpenters, and ABBA. On weekends, he could be found enjoying family breakfast gatherings or attending church. John was a proud member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Amarillo. "Those who knew him well know he was a lovable goofy guy, and he loved making people laugh regardless of how he was feeling. Even when he was in pain, he would crack jokes with nurses and paramedics. I got my sense of humor from my dad." -Yvonne, daughter "He lived by the bible verse John 8:32 'Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.' Dad believed in honesty and instilled that belief in us." -Ann Marie, daughter John leaves behind his two daughters: Yvonne Vincens and partner Rick Salas, Ann Marie Davis and husband Bobby Davis; five grandchildren: Raven Martinez, Vinnie Salas, Rito Salas, Enrique Salas, Annabelle Davis; four siblings: Sue Ellen Cross and husband Stephen Cross, Roberta McLaughlin and husband Ken McLaughlin, Vince Vincens, April Maas and husband David Maas; and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his father, Edward Vincens, and his mother, Ellen Marie Turley Vincens. The family suggests memorial donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Fort Worth, 1300 Summit Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas, 76102.
