Jose Luis Garcia

Jose Joe L. Garcia 79, formerly of Solano, NM died Feb. 15, 2013 in Amarillo. Memorial graveside services will be at 1:30 PM Thursday at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. Cremation was by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas. Mr. Garcis was born on October 9, 1933 in Bueyeros, NM to Leopoldo Garcia and Lucia C de Baca Garcia. He was on of 10 children born to this union. He proudly served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1956. He married Adelina Nina Herrera on June 30, 1956. Mr. Garcia was blessed with a contagious laugh a bright smile and a warm heart. Many people were drawn to him because of his friendliness. He loved spending time at the ranch hunting, camping and shooting guns. Mr. Garcia loved anilmals, especially his dog GiGi. He had a heart of gold. He was always there when someone needed a shoulder to lean on, cry on or just have a good conversation with. You could count on him for anything. If you ever wanted to go for a ride with him to get a Coca-Cola, he was always ready to go. He was an excellent husband father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were all best buds with their Grandpa. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He was the sweetest man in the world. Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Lino, Leopoldo, Jr., Sate, Gilbert, Max and Dario. He is survived by his wife, Nina of the home; one son, Dorian Garcia; two daughters, Doris Garcia and Donna Garcia and her husband Rudy, his brother, Ramon Garcia and his wife Lora; 5 grandchildren, David Matheny and wife Lori, Kristin Archuleta and her husband Raul, Lerissa Garcia, Riani Garcia and McKenzie Garcia; 4 great-grandchildren, Raegan Archuleta, Katelynn Matheny, Maxwell Matheny and Travis Matheny as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
