Jose Angel Guzman, "Guelo", 82 of Amarillo died Sunday, January 15, 2017 in Mexico after a gradual decline in health. He was surrounded by loved ones the last day of his life. Services and burial were Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in San Angel, Durango, MX. Local services will be announced when the family returns from Mexico. Guelo was born in Juan Aldama, Zacatecas, MX. He migrated to the United States where he lived in Abernathy and worked as a farmer. He later moved to Amarillo, where he settled and eventually retired from Palo Duro Meats. He was a very hard worker who always provided for his family. Guelo was well respected by his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed. Guelo was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters and 3 grandchildren, Rayna Guzman, Jose E. Guzman, Jr. and Francisco Guzman, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Socorro Armendariz Guzman; ten children, Jose "Jorge" Guzman of Plainview, Bricia Jacquez of Lubbock, Francisco Guzman, Sofia Guzman, Angel Guzman, Jr., Araceli Arjon, Ruben Guzman, Socorro Maldonado and Maria Jacquez all of Amarillo and Geraldo Guzman of San Angel, Durango, MX.; his sons in law and daughters in law; 39 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
