Joyce Alma Everson, 90, of Colleyville died Friday June 19, 2020. Graveside Service will be 10:30 am Friday June 26 at Groom Cemetery officiated by Scott Charbonneau. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage. Joyce was born February 19, 1930 to Tom and Eula Harris in Groom. As a child of the Depression in Crowell Tx, she started working at a young age to help support her family in whatever job she could. Joyce married Floyd Everson December 1, 1951 and they moved to Pampa. They were married for 17 years until Floyds passing in 1968. In 1961 the family moved to Groom, where they resided until 1971. In 1971 Joyce worked as a much-loved Dorm mom at Wayland Baptist College. She gave a "Mothers Touch" and guidance to the girls of Ferguson Hall. She shared her love of crocheting and teaching them how to make blankets for family and friends. She would use whatever scraps of material to make special doll clothes for her granddaughters and great-granddaughters. Joyce later moved to Amarillo and began working at St Anthonys Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of First Assembly Church in Amarillo. Her faith in Jesus was evident in the way she lived her life. Spending time daily in Gods Word was of up most importance to her. She was an active member of the Senior Citizens Activity Center, playing a fierce game of dominoes and checker with anyone brave enough to accept the challenge. She enjoyed baking pies, deserts and canned jams and sharing them. Joyce moved to Hurst in 2015 and was a beloved member of the Faith Sunday School class at First Baptist Hurst. Joyce was preceded in death by her Husband, her parents, two brothers, Weldon and Johnny Harris; a step-son, Ransom (Pete) Everson, and a nephew, Johnny Harris. She is survived by two daughters, Tommie Rosene and husband Kyle and Donna Sherrod and husband Jim, four grandchildren, Wes and his wife Jen Rosene and Kellie and husband Scott Charbonneau; SDC Adam Sherrod, Casey and husband Nate Simmons.
