Joyce Fulcher Hyden

Joyce Fulcher Hyden 80 of Amarillo died Sunday November 23, 2008 in Amarillo. Services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Loran Harper, pastor of Comanche Trail Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas. Mrs. Hyden was born in Wellington. She moved to Amarillo in 1949 from Goodlett. She worked as a sales clerk at Levine's for more than 25 years. After leaving Levine's she worked as a product demonstrator at Wal Mart on Grand. Mrs. Hyden was preceded in death by her son Dee Aaron Hyden on Dec. 15, 1969 during the Vietnam War. The death of her son inspired her to volunteer at the Veterans Hospital for many years. She was instrumental in the building of the Panhandle War Memorial at the Randall County Annex. Mrs. Hyden also displayed a war memorial at the Wal Mart on Grand every Veterans Day. Many of the photos and war memorabilia will be donated to the WT War Museum when it is completed. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Hyden in 1994. She was a member of Grand Ave. Baptist Church. Survivors include her sister Winnie Roberson of Amarillo; many, many nieces and nephews and her beloved schnauzer, Otiss. The family requests memorial donations to Panhandle War Memorial.
