Judy Essick

Judy Essick 73, of Tucumcari died Tuesday, January 21, 2014 in Amarillo. Memorial graveside services will be in Hutchinson, KS at a later date. Cremation was by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas. Judy was born on July 22, 1940 in Larned, KS to Carl Ernest and Alice (Nielson) Sward. She graduated from Newton High School in Newton, KS. Judy moved to Tucumcari in 1980 From Norman, OK. She worked as a bank teller at several banks in Oklahoma and Tucumcari. She also worked for the Tucumcari School System as a handicapped bus driver, she delivered prescriptions for Bob's Pharmacy and was a Mary Kay salesperson. She married Harold Essick on January 25, 1965 in Atlanta, GA. Judy was a long time member of Center Street United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Leger in 1999, her son Carl Essick in 2013 and a brother, Steve Sward in 2004. She is survived by her husband, Harold; 1 daughter, Terry Lynn Essick of Arlington, TX; two brothers, Jon Sward of Emporia, KS and Arvid Sward and his wife Mary of Blanco, TX; 1 step-daughter, Linda Lou Essick of Tucker, GA; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
