Kenneth Webb Jennings

December 24, 1930 — July 19, 2014

Kenneth Webb Jennings 83 of Amarillo died Saturday, July 19, 2014 in Amarillo. Services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church with Rob Blum, pastor officiating. Burial will be at Llano East Cemetery. Masonic graveside rites will be by San Jacinto Masonic Lodge #1330 A.F&A.M. Arrangemets are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Ken fought Mesothelioma to the very end and was a very strong man who loved and cared for his family. He will be profoundly missed. Ken was born in Tulia Texas on December 24, 1930 to William Brown Jennings and Sue Della Young Jennings. He graduated from Tulia High School in 1949. On January 26, 1950 he married the love of his life, Alta Jean Barnes they were married 64 years on her passing. Ken was a retired electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 602. He worked in construction and at Pantex. Ken was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, a member of San Jacinto Masonic Lodge #1330 A.F&A.M., a member of The Knights Templar Amarillo Commandery No. 48, and Red Cross of Constantine. He devoted many years working with Amarillo Assembly No. 19 International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. Ken had many hobbies a few of them include, flying model airplanes and model slot car racing. He loved fishing and camping, was a member of the RV travel club Buffalo Ramblers. He also enjoyed rock hunting and loved restoring cars. Ken was a member of the Model A Ford club of America. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, and the Chicago Cubs. Most of all, he loved to tinker in his garage. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Jean and his daughter Peggy Anne Wright. Brothers, BL (Bert Lee), Billy, Charles, and his parents. Survivors include two daughters, Dona Baucom and husband Sam of Divide, Colorado and Jan Price of Amarillo, a son in law Norman Wright of Amarillo, 6 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. Brothers, Bob Adas Jennings, Herb Jennings, and Don Jennings. The family would like to thank BSA Hospice and the staff of Cherry II at Park Central Health Care Facility for their respect, kindness, compassion and support during Kens end-of-life journey.
