Kenneth Dale Smith

K.D. Smith 69, of Amarillo died Saturday, September 28, 2013 in Amarillo. A gathering of family and friends will be at 2:30 PM Saturday at 2103 S. Polk St. Cremation was by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. K.D. was born in Amarillo on December 21, 1943 to Bobby Dale and Bonnie (Wansley) Smith. He graduated from Palo Duro High School. K.D. was a self-employed cement contractor. He as well known in the Amarillo area for his quality work. K.D. was an avid sports fan. He was a Golden Gloves boxer in the early 1960s. He loved football. He especially enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys. The family would like to extend their heart-felt gratitude to Kim Bishop and the doctors, nurses and staff of BSA Hospice for the loving care they provided to K.D. during his illness. K.D. is survived by two daughters, Carmella and Brittany Smith, both of Amarillo; one sister, Susie Slattery of Amarillo; two brothers, Robert Cameron and his wife Shirley and Johnny Cameron and his wife Janie, all of Amarillo and his grandson Colton Smith of Amarillo. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center.
