Laura Martin

Laura Dale Martin 76 of Amarillo died Saturday, April 6, 2013 in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday April 9, 2013 at Community of Grace United Methodist Church, 1525 N. Grand with Michael Robinson, pastor officiating. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Laura Dale Martin was born in on October 26, 1936 in Marlow, OK, to Homer Dixon and Laverne (Shuler) Dixon. She moved to Amarillo in 1972 from Austin. She was an active and long-time member of Community of Grace United Methodist Church. She enjoyed going on lay missions with the church. She married Nathan NC Martin on April 21, 1961 at Gainesville. She was an exemplary wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her children playing football and baseball when they were younger. She created many fond memories that her family will always cherish. Mrs. Martin also enjoyed bowling. She made several lifelong friends during her years of bowling. She is survived by her husband; two sons, Nathan Christopher Martin and Lewis Kane Martin both of Amarillo; two daughters, Laura Ann Drust and her husband Harry of Amarillo and Julie Lynn Padilla and her husband Adrian of Valle de Oro; and four grandchildren, Nathan, Tony, Jacob and Declan. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM 6:30 PM Monday at the funeral home and request memorial donations to Community of Grace United Methodist Church 1525 N. Grand Amarillo, Texas 79107.
