Lawrence “Larry” Wagner, 77, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday in Rector Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Rector Pioneer Chapel. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St.
Larry was born in Pueblo, Colorado on December 30, 1948. He was a man of many words; a strong-minded and opinionated man who was never afraid to speak his mind. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh, joke around, and share stories with the people around him.
On September 15, 1967, Larry married the love of his life, Brenda Wagner, in Sunray, Texas. Shortly after, they moved back to Amarillo, where they made their home and built a life together. To this union, a daughter and a son were born, Cherlyn Jean Wagner and Lawrence R. Wagner Jr.
Larry had many passions and hobbies throughout his life. He enjoyed sprint cars and NASCAR racing, fly fishing, camping, and woodworking. He loved spending time outdoors and working with his hands. His interests reflected his adventurous spirit, independent nature, and appreciation for the simple things in life.
Larry was a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He leaves behind two children, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry his memory and the lessons he shared with them throughout their lives.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Brenda, who was the love of his life and his partner for many years.
Larry will be remembered for his strong personality, his many stories, his sense of humor, and his ability to make people laugh. He was one of a kind, and those who knew him will never forget him.
His family will cherish the memories they made with him and the legacy he leaves behind. Though he is gone, his voice, his laughter, his stories, and his love for his family will live on in the generations that follow.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Survivors include his children, Cherlyn Hyatt and Lawrence Wagner Jr.; his grandchildren, Michael Wagner and Raven Wagner; his great-grandchildren, Trey Wagner, Chase Wagner, Micaylah Wagner, Kemauri Wagner, Mic Wagner, Eli Wagner and Kade Stewart; his nephews, Billy Warner and Lawrence Farris; and niece, Sherry Wofford.
