Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Leroy was born in Collingsworth County TX on October 7, 1932 to Clyde and Geneva Brown. He attended Quail High School graduating in 1950 and married his high school sweetheart, Wanda Faye Johnson, in 1952. Leroy served in the Army for two years and was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso Texas. He farmed in Collingsworth County before moving to Amarillo in 1960. Worked different jobs until getting a job as a bus driver with Greyhound Bus Lines. He was proud of the 25 years he worked with Greyhound. As an only child who married into a family with 8 siblings. He never could understand why one couldnt talk to the person next to them instead to a person across the room. In 1973 Jim Croce released the song Bad Bad Leroy Brown. The song followed him the rest of his life. He loved to hear that song. People wouldnt believe him when he said his name was Leroy Brown. He was the baddest man in town but not as the song depicted. He was very gentle, loving and kind. Leroy was quite the marksman and loved to hunt and fish. He loved to hunt quail in Collingsworth County and introduced his girls to fishing and camping. Would take his family trout fishing as often as they could all get together. His time at Greyhound gave him an opportunity to travel driving charter buses. In retirement, he and Wanda joined a travel club. They loved to take their 5th wheel and go to different places with, of course, a fishing hole nearby. He loved being a dad to his 3 daughters. A PawPaw to his 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He loved his extended family of cousins and the Johnson family. Preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Brown and his daughter Theresa Brown. Leroy is survived by his daughters, Tammy Novak and husband Don; Tanya Joyce Fahnert and husband Kerry. His 4 grandchildren; Stephen Fahnert and wife Cassie; Andrew Novak and wife Yolanda; Lindsey Novak and husband Tim Dobyns; Jessica Fahnert and partner Zak Jensen. His 4 great-grandchildren; Kaitlyn Novak, Ally Novak, Harrison Fahnert and Nora Jensen. Special mention of his caregiver, Diane Shepherd, who took care of him his last 4 years making his life engaging and fun. She was a God send to Leroy and his girls. The family will receive friends from 5:30 7:00 Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.
