Lester Ray Franklin

Lester Ray Franklin, 68 of Canyon died Friday, November 2, 2007at Amarillo. Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday at The Nazarene Church of Hereford with Ted Taylor, senior pastor officiating. Interment will be at Restlawn Cemetery in Hereford. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas. Mr. Franklin was born in Cotton County, Oklahoma. He lived in Hereford over 20 years. He moved to Canyon in 2000. He worked as a truckdriver for many years. In Hereford, he worked for Tejas Industries as a diesel mechanic and then as service manager. He married Linda Clark in 1972 at Earth, Texas. He enjoyed camping, loved his dogs, and was a very loving and giving father. He was always looking for someone to help. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Marty Allen ""Bucket"" Franklin in 1982, and Lester Ray ""Dallas"" Franklin, II in 1971; and by a sister, Virginia Hill; and by 2 brothers, Bill Franklin, and Eugene Franklin. Survivors include: his wife of the home; 5 daughters, Debbie Scott and husband, Mike Rios of Littlefield, TX, Coleta Dawkins and husband Tony of Amarillo, June George and husband Bobby of Canyon, Charla Martinez of Lubbock, and Larhonda Hill and husband Rick of Sudan, TX; 1 son, Douglas Franklin and wife Becky of Amarillo; 5 sisters, Helen Smith of Scappossa, OR, Juanita Posey of Spade, TX, Joann Franklin of Littlefield, Daris Dickerson of Coleman, TX and Joyce Surrett of Conroe, TX; 1 brother, Roger Franklin of Coleman, TX; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
