Lester Ervin Holman

A memorial service will be at 10:00 am Monday, July 12 at First Baptist Church, Bushland with Jeff Ponder, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Lester was born on July 24, 1927 in Artesia, New Mexico to Erwin and Helen Holman. He graduated from Shamrock High School in 1945, and went to work for Santa Fe Railroad in 1947. He retired in 1987 after 40 years of loyal service. Lester married Margaret Thompson in 2003. He was a master gardener, and a member of the VFW, Post 1475, Men's Auxiliary. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son. Survivors include his wife; 2 daughters, Carla Brady and Michael Gleaves both of Amarillo, and Teresa Maloney of Houston; 4 granddaughters, Michelle Bailey of Amarillo, Denise Smith and husband Jason of Katy, Tina Poblete of Llano, and Melissa Triano and husband Jeff of Abilene; 2 step daughters, Tonya Vinyard of Shamrock, and Stacy Rutledge of Keller; and 2 step sons, Jackie Thompson of Lake Tewakne, and Ty Thompson of McLean. The family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church, Bushland, or Amarillo Botanical Gardens.
