Lewis D. Zink 69, of Amarillo died Sunday, October 9, 2016 in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 4:00 PM Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Paramount Baptist Church, Fellowship Hall, building A. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Lewis was born in Austin on February 21, 1947 to Lewis and Evelyn (Elam) Zink. He graduated from high school in Oklahoma City and enlisted into the Air Force where he served with the military police and the K-9 Units. After being honorably discharged, Lewis began a career with the Veterans Affairs Medical System. He worked in Oklahoma City, Grand Prairie and retired from the Thomas E. Creek VAMC in 1999 as the Chief Administrator. Lewis married Roberta Pearce in 1967 in Oklahoma City. He loved animals and was an avid outdoorsman. He served as a sheriff's department volunteer and was always interested in Law Enforcement. Lewis adored spending time with his family, especially his 4 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Jackie Fails and a granddaughter, Jennabeth Ditmore. He is survived by his wife of the home, two daughters, Melissa Ditmore and her husband David and Kimberly Smith and her husband Cody all of Amarillo and 4 grandchildren, Caleb, Lucas, Zayden and Cash. The family suggests memorial donations to BSA Hospice of the Southwest, 6600 Killgore #110, Amarillo, Texas 79106 or the Harrington Cancer and Health Foundation 500 S Taylor Suite 603 Unit #223,Amarillo, TX 79101.
