Lila Beth Strimple, 94 of Amarillo died Thursday December 31, 2015 in Amarillo. Services will be held on Wednesday, January 6, at 10:00 AM at the First Church of the Nazarene in Amarillo, with nephew Richard N. Garrett officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home. She was born to S. A. Gus and Cora Strimple on September 28, 1921 in Liberal, Kansas. She moved to Amarillo in 1929 and was a graduate of Amarillo High School. She worked for Levine's Department Store on Polk Street for over thirty years and later at Cizon's Jewelers across the street. She felt that Eighth and Polk was her second home. She worked at Amarillo Senior Citizens Center for over twenty years, until her retirement at age 87. At ASCA she received the Outstanding Employee award on several occasions. She was a member of her beloved First Church of the Nazarene over seventy-five years, and received several recognitions from her church. She was honored to turn the soil during the groundbreaking of the church's new building. She was a wonderful hostess. A lover of people, she gave parties and showers for many friends, family members, and her church. She was never happier than when entertaining. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Jewel Strimple and Estella Charlton, and three brothers, Dwight Strimple, Virgil Strimple, and Wayne Strimple. She is survived by two nieces, Judith Garrett of Fort Worth, and Lynda Simmons of Reno, Nevada, two nephews, Larry Strimple of Alvin, and Nick Strimple of Los Angeles, California, twelve great-nieces and nephews and eight great-great nieces and nephews, and countless friends, among the most beloved, Joe and Georgia Gross and John and Olita Walters, all of Amarillo.
