Linda Gale Ward

October 15, 1945 — March 3, 2016

Linda Gale Ward, 70 died Thursday, March 3, 2016. Memorial Services will be Monday 11:00 a.m. at Rector Funeral Home at 2800 S. Osage Street, Amarillo, Texas. Linda Gale Laxton was born October 15, 1945 in Erick, Oklahoma to Buford, Doc and Irene Laxton. Linda had severe asthma and spent 3 of her teenaged years in the National Jewish Hospital in Denver, Colorado. After Linda graduated from high school Linda worked as a nurses aide at Sayre hospital. Linda moved to Amarillo in 1967 with her cousin Joyce Groves to pursue a career in nursing. Linda went to Amarillo College to become an LVN. Linda was employed with Bivins Nursing Home for 12 years then moved on to Saint Anthonys. She was employed at BSA and retired with 35 plus years of service. Linda loved her nursing and had a feisty and humorous side to her. She had severe asthma and sleep apnea, but never used that as a crutch. When BSA needed her and would call her in, she would go into work. They knew they could count on her. Material possessions and a fancy home did not matter much to Linda. Her passions were her love for her family and rescuing dogs. She had such a kind loving heart. She turned her home and yard into a haven for her beloved animals. She rescued and fostered many a dog for Texas Panhandle Pet Savers. Linda also read her Bible daily and was such a prayer warrior. She loved the Lord. She was member of South Lawn Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother Irene and father Doc Laxton. Survivors include her sons Vincent and Barrett Ward of Amarillo. Sisters Bunny Provence, Debbie McCarty and husband Doug. Brother Brian Laxton and wife Cynthia, her favorite sister in law and nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please give memorials to Texas Panhandle Pet Savors and The City Church.
