Lonnie Simmons

Lonnie Simmons, 72 of 5933 Devon Dr. died, Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at his home. Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday at Rector Funeral Home Chapel with Pat Clark, reader and Dale Miller, eulogist, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Simmons was born in Rush Springs, OK. He moved to Amarillo in 1963 from Wellington. He and his son, Jim owned and operated Simmons Ditching, Inc. for 20 years. He was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientists. He married Georgia Underwood in 1952 at Hollis, OK. Survivors include: his wife of the home, 1 daughter; Janet Landry and her husband John of Amarillo, 1 son; Jim Simmons and his wife Judy of Amarillo, his mother; Etta Simmons of Oklahoma City, 3 sisters; Mae Rawson and Thelma Solomon, both of Oklahoma City and Bonnie Flemming of Houston, 2 brothers; Rondle Simmons and Alvin Simmons, both of Oklahoma City, 4 grand-daughters; Jancee Simmons, Jandy Furman, Jamie Peirce and Jody Julian all of Amarillo, 2 grandsons; Jarrod Simmons and John Simmons, both of Amarillo, and 2 great-grand-daughters; Payton and Hannah, both of Amarillo. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to a church or charity of choice
