Louis 'Tuffy' Dodson

Louis "Tuffy" Dodson 85, of Amarillo died Wednesday, June 3, 2020 in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 10 am Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Llano East Cemetery, Field of Valor. Military Honors will be by Volleys for Veterans. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Tuffy was born on May 10, 1935 in Durant, OK to John F. and Anna Lee (Bertram) Dodson. He enlisted in the Army in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1956. He moved to Amarillo in 1993 from Dumas. He worked at Diamond Shamrock/Valero as a pumper. Tuffy retired in 1995 after 32 years of faithful service. He enjoyed music and was the founder of Louis Dodson and the Traveling Texans. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and traveling to the mountains with Betty. His grandchildren meant the world to him and he dearly loved his morning coffee. He was a faithful member of Irwin Road Baptist Church. He married the love of his life, Betty Halcomb on Sept. 22, 1960 in Clovis, NM. He was preceded in death by two sons, Ricky Dodson and Teddy Ray Dodson. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years; two daughters, Terry Bryant and her husband Gene of San Antonio and Carla Kemler and her husband Bob of Amarillo; one son, Don Dodson of Amarillo; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
