Louis Yarbrough, 84, of Amarillo died Sunday March 27, 2005 in Amarillo, Texas Graveside Services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday March 30, 2005 at Llano Cemetery with Dale Moreland of San Jacinto Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Coulter Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter, Amarillo, Texas, 79119. Mr. Yarbrough was born in Turkey, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and landed on Omaha Beach in France, on D-Day, June 6, 1944. He farmed in Carey, Texas before moving to Amarillo in 1956. He married Polly Witt in 1956 at Amarillo. He worked as a mechanic for the City of Amarillo, retiring in 1978. He enjoyed woodworking, playing music, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Childress, and regularly attended San Jacinto Baptist Church in Amarillo. Survivors include: his wife of the home; 2 daughters, Camille Tigart and Kim Matsler both of Amarillo; 2 brothers, Woodrow Yarbrough of Canyon, and Delton Yarbrough of Ft. Stockton, Texas; 4 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Family requests that memorial donations be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 2304, Amarillo, TX 79105.
