Louva Grace Kersey

Services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Washington Avenue Christian Church with Rev. Albert Maggard, Pentecostal Holiness minister of Pampa and Jim Shelburne of Washington Avenue Christian Church officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday in Bovina Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Kersey was born in Sedan, NM on February 22, 1918. She began preaching at the age of 16 and became licensed with the Great Plains Pentecostal Holiness Conference in 1943. Mrs. Kersey served churches in Boise City, OK, Amarillo, Bovina, Perryton, Garfield, McLean and Hobbs, NM. She also served as conference Youth Director, Sunday School President and on the Women's Auxiliary Board. Mrs. Kersey was a perfectionist. She loved painting and also enjoyed sewing and baking for the public. Mrs. Kersey was a gardener and kept an immaculate yard. She was awarded several beautification awards for her yards in various towns. She married Alvoy C. Kersey on July 11, 1945 in Clayton, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995 and one son, Jim Kersey in 2004. She is survived by 1 son, Allen Dale Kersey and his wife Ellen of Tryon, OK; 3 daughters, Glenna Stallo and her husband Jerry of Lorraine, KS, Reita Gimpel of Amarillo and Alva Walker and her husband Donald of Rosebud, NM; one sister, Mertie Taylor of Dumas; her daughter- in-law, Charlotte Kersey of Albuquerque, NM; 15 grandchildren ,19 great-grandchildren,15 great-great grandchildren and a host of friends. The family requests memorial donations to Bivins Memorial Nursing Home 1001 Wallace Blvd. Amarillo, Texas 79106 or a favorite church.
