Manuel 'Gungie' Urenda

Manuel Gungie Urenda, 57, came into this world on May 23, 1957 and received his angel wings on April 11, 2015 due to complications he received after being hit by an automobile on February 14, 2015. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday in Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Manuel was born on May 23, 1957 in Amarillo to the late Manuel and Cordelia Urenda. He lived in Amarillo all his life. He graduated from Caprock High School and worked as a Brakeman for the BNSF Railroad. On the side he also did various other jobs and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone. Manuel enjoyed the little things in life. He loved fishing, carpentry, playing the guitar and being in the company of friends and family. Manuel spent the last couple years living with his sister Moona Urenda which whom he had a very strong bond with. Although our hearts ache we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering. He is survived by; two daughters; Delisa Urenda and Tonia Urenda, a son Manuel Urenda Jr. all of Amarillo; two brothers John Urenda and his wife Beatres of Amarillo and Simon Urenda of Dumas, two sisters; Sylvia Moona Urenda and Melissa Guzman both of Amarillo, five grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words and hospitality. After the accident Manuel fought all the way to the end and will be dearly missed by all.
