Marco Antonio Marquez

Marco Antonio Marquez, 24, of Amarillo, died on May 7th, 2023. Mass of a Christian Burial is 10:00 am Friday, May 12 at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage. Visitation is Thursday May 11, 2023, 10 am- 5:30 pm. Rosary is 5:30 pm at the funeral home. Marco was born January 5th, 1999 in Amarillo Texas, the son of Tony Marquez, and Ruth Varela. He attended Glenwood Elementary School and Bowie Middle School. Marco graduated from Caprock High School in 2017. Marco learned the trade of welding from working with his father after graduating high school. He then began working as a fabrication welder. Marco realized the "American Dream" by purchasing his own home at the age of 22. He was very proud of himself for such an accomplishment, and his family was so proud of him as well. Marco was a joy to be around, and had a great sense of humor. His gleaming smile will be one of the things missed the most by those who knew him. He was loved by many, because he had a heart of gold. He was a truck and sports car enthusiast, and loved cruising with his music blasting. When he wasn't cruising, you could find him tearing up a parking lot doing burnouts and popping tires. Marco was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Romulo and Rita Marquez, and maternal grandmother Raquel Varela. Marco is survived by his parents Tony Marquez, and Ruth Varela, sister Brenda Marquez, brothers Emmanuel Marquez, Jonathan Marquez, and Rodrigo Marquez. He leaves two nieces Camila Chavez and Addalynn Marquez. As well as a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and close friends.
