Margie Loretta Cox was born February 20, 1938 in Erick, Oklahoma to Loyd Crosby and Wilma (Prather) Crosby. She completed her work for the Lord and passed from this life into the arms of her savior Christ Jesus on September 17, 2023 in Amarillo, Texas. Services and celebration of her life will be Thursday September 21, 2023 at Trinity Baptist Church in Amarillo, Texas at 2:00 PM. The services will be officiated by Jacob Cates. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage. The family will receive guests for visitation Wednesday 6-7pm at the Funeral Home. Following the tragic and untimely death of her mother on June 11, 1943, Margie spent most of her adolescent and teenage years in Happy, Kaffir Switch and Plainview, Texas. While working as a soda jerk at Rexall Drug in Plainview, she met the love of her life and her life-long soul mate Doyle Cox in 1958. After a whirlwind courtship, they married September 19, 1958 at First Assembly of God in Plainview. After moving to Pecos, Texas for a very brief time, Doyle accepted a job with Crowe-Gulde Cement Company and the couple moved to Hereford, Texas early 1959. Their first son, Dewayne, was born in Hereford. In early 1960, Doyle accepted a job with Coca-Cola in Amarillo, Texas servicing the Amarillo Airforce Base and Amarillo would become their new, lifelong home. To complete their family, Johnny and Nicole were born in Amarillo. Margie is the true definition of a lady, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, true friend, defender and advocate for the less fortunate, and all of Gods creation. Never judgmental, always compassionate, always putting everyone and everything above her own needs and desires. She especially loved cardinals and blue jays, and there was never a hungry stray animal that came to her doorstep. She first and foremost loved the Lord with all of her heart and soul and served Him in every way, every day. She exemplified her called life to everyone and always, always, considered everyones needs before herself. She remained the foundation of Faith for her family and her friends no matter the difficulties that she faced. As a true testament to her commitment and love, she nurtured and cared for Doyle through many months of serious medical issues before his passing in 2014. Margies charge and dedication to others before herself was to first serve her Lord, be a Godly wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and trust-worthy friend. In her "spare" time, Margie was an Avon Lady, childcare teacher/chief baby-hugger and remarkably retired from the Corporate Systems risk management department after over 25 years of service. She always had love and compassion for nurturing and training children her entire adult life. She taught Sunbeams, GAs, Sunday School, and helped in church nurseries for many years. Known to her family as Grammy, Momma, Momma Bear and even the wrestler one-legged Momma Sakagucci. You would never, ever get the last word at the end of any conversation with our Grammy. She would always, without fail, finish the conversation with "Love you more". We believe this to be true, we know that she always loved us more. We are so grateful that one day soon, we will get to hear her say that again in Glory. Margie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her beloved father and mother-in-law T.B. and Rosa Cox; an infant sister Anna Fern; sister Loy Crosby; brother-in-law Emmitt (Leroy) Tipton; brother and sister-in-laws Everett and Elaine Cox and Rea and Charlene Cox; niece Vivian Cox; grandchildren James Thomas and Caleb John Cox; and notably life-long friends Nina Milford and Saundra Edmonds.
