Maria Guadalupe Betancourt-Murguia

Maria Betancourt-Murguia, 53, of Amarillo, died Friday, November 9, 2012 in Amarillo. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Tuesday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Juan and Juanita Murguia officiating. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Fr. Haider Quintero officiating. Interment will be at Llano East Cemetery. Arrangements are by Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Murguia was born on July 8, 1959 in Kingsville to Raul and Maria Betancourt. She moved to Amarillo 46 years ago from Kingsville. Mrs. Murguia was a hard worker. She worked at Caviness Meat Packing in Hereford for several years as a sorter. She married Jesus Murguia on April 4, 1980 in Amarillo. Mrs. Murguia was a loving and devoted wife mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband of the home; one son, Jose Luis Murguia and his wife Lali of Amarillo; two daughters, Connie Marie Ortega and her husband Luis and Becky Ann Castaneda all of Amarillo; one sister, Susana Lozano of Amarillo; four brothers, Danny Betancourt, John Betancourt and David Betancourt all of Amarillo and Raul Betancourt of San Antonio; 10 grandchildren. The family request memorial donations to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
