In Loving Memory of Maria Luisa Salinas Calzadillas
September 22, 1945 – July 18, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Maria Luisa Salinas Calzadillas, who was born on September 22, 1945, in Gómez Farías, Chihuahua, Mexico. She lived a life centered on faith, family, and love, leaving behind a legacy that will continue through the many lives she touched. Maria Luisa was a devoted homemaker known for her strength, independence, and unwavering love for her family. She found great joy in cooking, specially making her beloved tamales, attending church, listening to music, and spending time surrounded by her large family. Nothing brought her more happiness than watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren laugh and play.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco Salinas and Prisciliana Calzadillas; her siblings, Benhur Salinas, and Efrain Salinas; her daughter, Nora Nevarez; her husband, Francisco Nevarez; her daughter-in-law, Irene Nevarez; her grandchildren, Cesarin Nevarez, Crystal Nevarez, and Alondra Arrieta; and her great-grandson, Michael Moore.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Jesus Nevarez and significant other, Azucena Castro, of Amarillo, Texas, Ana Juarez and Mario Juarez of Amarillo, Texas, Ricardo Nevarez and Leticia Nevarez of Amarillo, Texas, Rene Nevarez and Carolina Nevarez of Amarillo, Texas, Gerardo Nevarez of Clovis, New Mexico, Cesar Nevarez and Esmeralda Nevarez of Amarillo, Texas, Yadira Nevarez and Domingo Sanchez of Amarillo, Texas, and Karla Nevarez and Iban Quintana of Amarillo, Texas. She is also survived by her siblings, Graciela Martinez and Arturo Martinez, Sigifredo Salinas and Graciela Salinas, Ismael Salinas and Ester Salinas, and Neptail Salinas and Carmen Salinas. Maria Luisa's greatest pride was her family. She was blessed with 27 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life.
Her favorite Bible passage was Psalm 23, a beautiful reflection of the faith that sustained her throughout her life.
Pallbearers will be Jesus Nevarez, Ricardo Nevarez, Cesar Nevarez, Rene Nevarez, Gerardo Nevarez, Domingo Sanchez, Iban Quintana, Mario Juarez.
Viewing will be available from 8:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Rector Funeral Home. The Prayer Service will begin at 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 21, 2026, in the Pioneer Chapel at Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage. The Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Iglesia Adventista del Séptimo Día, 1511 S. Seminole, with Angel Avila and Ruben Salazar officiating. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home.
Maria Luisa's kindness, resilience, deep faith, and unconditional love will be remembered always. Though she will be greatly missed, her family finds comfort knowing her legacy lives on through the generations she cherished so deeply. "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want." — Psalm 23:1
