Maria Whilhemina Poldson

Maria Whilhemina Lamsa Poldson 99, left her earthly home in Amarillo, Texas on Sunday October 25, 2009. She was born on May 5, 1910 in Kiuruvesi, Finland. She came to the United States at the age of 19 and lived in New York, New Jersey, the Rio Grand Valley of Texas, Lake Worth, Florida, Enid, Oklahoma and Amarillo, Texas. Maria (Mary) worked hard her whole life and up until the age of 95 she spent much of her time helping others younger than herself. She was a wonderful hostess. She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter, and her son, Allen Poldson. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Faye Poldson Wilkerson; two grandsons; Paul Allen Poldson and his wife Stacey of Rhome, TX and Philip Poldson and his wife Lee Ann of Amarillo, TX; four great-granddaughters, three great-grandsons and seven great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews from Sweden and Finland. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 31, at 2pm at the Finnish Pentecostal of Lake Worth, in Lake Worth, Florida with Pastor Austin Wilkerson officiating. The family would like to thank the staff of Meals on Wheels of Amarillo, Accolade Home Health Care, The Arbors and her dear friend, Dora Velasquez for all the loving care they gave our grandmother.
