Maria P. Torres

Maria Pereida Torres, 87, of Amarillo died Thursday, August 19, 2021. The funeral service is 2 pm Wednesday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel. The burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage. The family will receive guests Monday and Tuesday 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Maria was born in San Diego, Tx. July 9, 1934 to Casimiro and Rafaela (Garza) Pereida. Maria was a happy-go-lucky person. Maria had a contagious laugh. She was always laughing. She loved music, dancing, bingo, fishing, and of course eating chicken. Maria also enjoyed crafting, sewing and restoration. She also had a green thumb and loved gardening. She could grow anything; Strawberrys, Jalapenos, and she loved her peach trees. Maria is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jesus R Torres, one sister, Dominga Garcia, one brother, Casimiro Pereida Jr., and two grandsons, Christopher and Steven. She is survived by her daughter, Sulema Lang, Eight Grandchildren; Angelique Cardoza, Christina Castillo, Sherrie Lang, William Langley, Ashley Lang, Tiffany Lang, Michael Lang, Eric Lang, 39 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Elisa Pereida of Alice, Texas, one step-sister, Josephine Moreno of Amarillo, Texas, Her sister-in-law; Aurora Pereida of Amarillo, Texas, and Several Nieces and Nephews. The family wishes to thank Jan Warner Adult Daycare Center and Ware Memorial Nursing Home.
