Maria Dolores Zapata

A prayer service will be at 6:00 pm Wednesday, June 1 in the Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, June 2 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Jose Gomez, celebrant. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Maria was born on April 3, 1927 in Buena Vista SLP, Mexico, to Refugio Nieto and Coleta Zapata. She was known, in Mexico, for the masa she would grind up for the community. She was also a home healthcare provider that many physicians, in that community, trusted to care for their patients. Maria enjoyed crocheting, knitting and cooking. She had a very caring and kind heart, and was always happy. She will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Feliciano Maldonado. Survivors include 3 sons Guillermo and Esteban Maldonado both of Amarillo, and Gonazalo Maldonado of Denver, CO; 8 daughters, Marselina Santana of Cardenas SLP, MX, Paula Acuna, Abundia Kelley, and Francisca Alvarado all of Houston, Maria Elena Netro and Marina Rodriguez both of Amarillo, Ruth Gudino of Houston, and Roxanna Hernandez of Amarillo; a sister, Tomasa Zapata of Cerritos SLP, MX; 34 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
