Marjorie Ann Rives 87, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022 in Amarillo. A private family burial will be at Stinnett Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Rives was born on June 6, 1935 in Abilene to Beuford and Virginia (Kendall) Hinds. She graduated from Abilene High School and earned a Bachelor's degree from McMurry University. She received her Master's degree from West Texas A&M University in Canyon. Mrs. Rives moved to Amarillo in 2016 from Borger, where she had lived for many years. She worked as a diagnostician for Region 16 Education Service Center, where she traveled to most of the schools in the region to diagnose and help with the special education needs of students in the panhandle. Mrs. Rives had a special way with children. She enjoyed helping them learn and succeed. She had a "never give up" attitude and was very compassionate. She was an inspiration to her family and friends. She married the love of her life, Weldon Rives on Aug. 13, 1955. Being the wife of a Methodist minister, Mrs. Rives taught the Young Couples Sunday School classes. She was an exemplary wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Tabitha Rives in 1985. She is survived by her husband of 67 years; two sons, Daryl Rives and his wife Dianne of Humble and, Stephen Rives and his wife Debbie of Amarillo; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren as well as a host of extended family and friends. The family suggests memorial donations to St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 100 Amaryllis St., Borger, Texas 79007
