Martha Anita Mays Jones 88, of Amarillo died Sunday July 5, 2009 in Amarillo. Graveside service will be held Friday, July 10, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock with Rev. Joseph Andrajack, son in law and pastor of Christ Lutheran Church of Amarillo officiating. Pallbearers will be Curt Andrajack, Clifford Andrajack, Joey Tremonte, Jason Craven, Tim Michalec, Kurt Koopman. Local Arrangements were by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage Street, Amarillo, Texas Anita was born October 21, 1920 in Bellville, Texas to William Thornton Mays and Verena Archer. She went home to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, July 5, 2009 in Amarillo, TX. Anita grew up in Summerville, Texas. She later met and married her husband of 57 years, William Henry Jones, on February 3, 1940 in Brenham, Texas. Through the years, they resided in Brenham, Victoria, and LaMarque, Texas where they retired. Anita and Bill were members of First Baptist Church of LaMarque, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband W. H. Jones and son D. W. Cotton Jones. Anita is survived by her daughter Mary Kathleen Andrajack and husband Joseph of Amarillo, Texas; 1 sister Betty Averitt of Brenham, Texas, cousin Delores Koopman of Hitchcock, Texas, daughter-in-law Betty Jones of Marathon; 8 grandchildren 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family requests that memorials be to First Baptist Church LaMarque, Texas or the Building Fund of Christ Lutheran Church Amarillo, Texas.
