Martha Ruth Stewart

Martha Ruth Stewart 88, of Amarillo died Monday March 9, 2009 in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday in Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Msgr. Raymond Crosier of St. Hyancinth's Catholic Church officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Stewart was born in Brooklyn, NY. She moved to Amarillo 47 years ago from Hempstead, NY. She worked at Blackburn's Clothiers as the head alterationist for many years. She married Arthur G. Stewart in 1941 in New York. Mrs. Stewart was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. While her husband served as a deacon, Mrs. Stewart was instrumental in making Baptismal and other garments for him and the churches he was serving. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998 and was the last of 12 brothers and sisters. Survivors include her son, Rod Stewart and his wife Debbie of Amarillo; 6 daughters, Mary McKee and her husband Steve and Barbara Watson and her husband Gary all of Amarillo, Linda Harmon and her husband Bill of Tacoma, WA, Janet Cova and her husband Tony of Pasadena, CA, Kathy Drentlaw and her husband Dave of Fountain Hills, AZ and Pattie Pepeli and her husband Rocky of Simi Valley, CA; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
