Marvin ""Bill"" Claud Morgan Jr., of Friona, died Wednesday October 25, 2006 in Amarillo. Memorial Service will be at 10:30 AM Monday October 30, 2006 at Calvary Baptist Church in Friona; with Rev. Rick Burton of Calvary Baptist Church in Friona officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Coulter Chapel 8310 South Coulter Amarillo, Texas. Mr. Morgan was born December 25, 1932 in Clovis to Marvin C. Morgan and Ruth Elizabeth Hatley Morgan. He married Betty Louise Shaw of Melrose on August 24, 1952. Mr. Morgan served in the U. S. Navy aboard the USS Bairoko and the USS Foss from 1950-1952 during the Korean War. He worked in law enforcement for 40 years, part of that time as Chief of Police of Friona, and as Parmer County Sheriff. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, target practice, drinking coffee with his friends, and working with his computer. Mr. Morgan was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Parmer County Sheriffs Department of Farwell, Texas State Troopers, Texas Rangers, and the Curry County and Clovis Police Department. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Benjamin Robert Morgan.Survivors include his wife Betty of the home, 1 son Dennis Morgan of The Colony, TX,2 daughters Carol Gilley of Friona, and Tonna Broyles of San Angelo, 1 sister Jeanne Townsend of Clovis,6 grandchildren , and 1 great grandchild.
