Mary L. Carnley, 81 of Amarillo, died Sunday July 16, 2006 in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Rector Funeral Home Coulter Chapel with Spence Moore officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Coulter Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter. Ms. Carnley was born in St. Louis, MO. She moved to Amarillo in 1990 from El Paso. She worked in retail sales before her retirement. She married Luther Cook in 1945. He preceded her in death. She married William D. Gossett in 1951. During his military career, she was instrumental in caring for her children as they moved to different military bases in the United States and Germany. Ms. Carnley was an exceptional mother. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her daughters-in-law. Survivors include: 2 daughters; Shelia Crain of Round Rock and Deborah Gossett of Amarillo, 4 sons; Paul W. Cook and Jeff L. Gossett and his wife Carolyne all of Amarillo, Michael D. Gossett and his wife Sheri of El Paso and Larry B. Gossett and his wife Lisa of Sugar Land, 1 sister; Elizabeth Clonts of Madisonville, KY, 5 brothers; William Earl Lawrence of Missouri, Edward L. Lawrence of Roswell, NM, David Ray Lawrence of Crowley, TX, and Terry and Perry Lawrence both of Madisonville, KY, 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
