Mary Cook 81 of Amarillo died Tuesday April 1, 2014 in Amarillo. Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Mark Phillips pastor of Buchannan Street United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas. Mrs. Cook was born in August 26, 1932 in Lonoke, Ark. She moved to Amarillo in 1936. Mary graduated from Amarillo High School. She worked as an insurance adjuster for a few years. Her favorite job was being a homemaker and taking care of her family She was an avid bowler and was a lifetime member of Buchannan Street United Methodist Church where she was serving as the secretary. She dearly loved her family, her friends and her church. She married A. Lawrence Cook in 1957. He preceded her in death in 2006. She is survived by her son Kenneth Cook and his wife Linda of Hereford; her daughter, Peggy Gore and her husband Michael of Choctaw, OK; 1 sister, Martha Gentry of Amarillo; on grandson, James Cook and his wife Cassie of Vernon and 2 great grandchildren Mason and Addison. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests memorial donations to Buchannan Street United Methodist Church, 617 N. Buchannan St. Amarillo, Texas 79107.
