Mary Helen Gamel

Mary Helen Gamel, 69, of Amarillo was carried by the angels to Paradise on November 19, 2020. Arrangements and cremation are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel. The service will be officiated by George Battey and Brett Hickey on Monday, November 23, 2020 at 2:00PM. Chapel attendance will be by invitation only; however, live streaming will be available on The Rector Funeral Home Facebook Page. The family invites you to park in the parking lot to live stream and greet the family from a safe distance after the service. Mary was born in El Campo, TX on June 26, 1951 to Robert and Helen Haese. Although she moved around as a child, her familysettled in Amarillo in 1965. Mary graduated from Tascosa High School in 1969 and attended AC and WT for a little while. She met the love of her life on a blind date in April of 1975, and they married on December 25th that very year. Together they would have two children and five grandchildren. She would spend the rest of her life taking care of her family built on this love and her faith. She loved serving the Lord and was a faithfulmember of the South Amarillo Church of Christ for 37 years. Marys greatest joy was her family. She adored her children, and once her grandchildren came along, she would spend time with as many of her grandchildren as possible each day. She would pick them up from school, take them shopping at Hobby Lobby, or offer them some type of dessert or snack. She was witty and sarcastic and had a fun sense of humor. Mary enjoyed crafting, cross-stitching, painting furniture, and feedingeveryone who walked through her front door. She was a loving, kind woman with a huge heart. Mary was like a mother or grandmother to everyone. She loved children and welcomed all of her children and grandchildrens friends into her home. Mary was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Bill, her daughter, Emily Cox and husband Jesse, her son, Jonathan Gamel and wife Tacy, and five grandbabies: Zachary, Kenadee, Sora, Aiden, and Haese.She is also survived by her brother, Robert Haese and wife Rhonda.
