Mary Urbina Gomez

Mary Urbina Gomez 66, of Amarillo died Friday, December 9, 2011. Services will be at 11:00 Tuesday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Craig Albracht, associate pastor of Hillside Christian Church, Amarillo South Campus officiating and Edward Castillo, nephew, will give the eulogy. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Ms. Gomez was born in Mount Clemens, MI. She moved to Amarillo in 1967 from Roswell, NM. Ms. Gomez worked at Pioneer Natural Gas as a secretary for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved to sew. She served as a volunteer at the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association, where she made many friends. Ms. Gomez was preceded in death by a daughter, Gina Griego in 1970, a sister Juanita Castillo in 1984 and her mother Ophelia Montgomery in 2008. She is survived by 4 sons, Mel Griego and his wife Kristi, Ted Griego and his wife Melanie, and Juan Griego and his wife Christie all of Amarillo and Monroy Griego and his wife Alice of Grand Prairie; 3 brothers, Don Urbina of Roswell, NM, Jim Montgomery of Del Rio and Roger Montgomery of Seattle, WA; 1 sister, Frances Esquivel of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. The family suggest memorial donations to the Amarillo Senior Citizens Assoc., 1217 S. Tyler St. Amarillo, Texas 79101.
