Mary Joyce Mitchell, 79, of Amarillo died Wednesday, September 30, 2020. No services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements and cremation are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage. Mary was born July 6, 1941, in Dekalb Tx, to Grace and Cleon Provins. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She has always been very encouraging. Mary was a strong and faithful Christian. She had read the bible twice. She was an avid butterfly collector, she loved them. Mary was an active person. She enjoyed going to the gym, estate sales, and playing poker or dominos. She joined the USAR at the age of 32, She was in the reserves for 11 years before going active duty. She was active for 17 years. Mary was stationed for Bootcamp in Birmingham Al. She received a slew of medals for her services such as; Army Achievement medal 1st Ocl, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Reserve Medal, Army Lapel button, Army Reserve Components and Achievement Medal 1st OLC, Army Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal 1st AWD, NCO Professional Development Ribbon W/Num 3, National Defense. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Timothy Mark Mitchell, one sister, Ann Souza, and one brother, Robert Lloyd Jeans. She is survived by her two sons, Ronald and his wife Malissa Mitchel and Donnie and Stacey Mitchel; six grandchildren, Misty, David, Amy, Bailey, Andrew, Emily; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lavoyce Provins; many nieces and nephews; and her five cats, Buttons, Punkin, Kiki, Milli, and Bo.
